From December 2-3, 2015, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Workshop on Citrus Huanglongbing Disease Prevention and Control was held in Guangzhou. It was sponsored by FAO and jointly undertaken by GDAAS and the Institute of Pomology of GDAAS. Over 20 experts and scholars from the United States, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, FAO and the International Tropical Fruits Network Organization (TFNet) attended the seminar.
Due to the spread of citrus huanglongbingand the decline in sales of orange juice in the traditional juice market and other factors, the global citrus industry is facing serious challenges. This seminar is themed on the development of the citrus industry and the prevention and control of citrus huanglongbing. The experts present made reports on the status quo of the citrus industry of their respective countries, research on the prevention and control measures for citrus huanglongbing, the major problems facing the industry development and so on, and had in-depth discussions on jointly dealing with global citrus huanglongbing.
The holding of this seminar is conducive to the in-depth understanding of the status quo of citrus huanglongbing prevention and control of various countries, raising the level of research on prevention and control of citrus huanglongbing and promoting the healthy development of the global citrus industry.
